Serve

Baptism is a sign and seal of the new covenant, representing one's union with Christ in His death and resurrection, regeneration, forgiveness of sin, and a surrender to God through Jesus Christ, to live and walk in the newness of life.

The outward element to be BAPTIZED is a meaningful and public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It’s a moment for the Church to celebrate with you and WELCOME YOU in TO WALK this journey of discipleship in community.

If you have trusted Christ as your Lord and Savior and have not been baptized, we invite you to connect with us.

  • Does it really matter if I’m a member or not? Why do I have to pursue membership? People often ask these questions about membership in the local church.

We take membership seriously because we believe committing yourself to a body of believers is a big responsibility. But it’s also wonderful. When Covenant Members join, they commit to a spiritual family that provides encouragement and support. They are called to a biblical degree of responsibility, service and sacrifice to their brothers and sisters. Our elders and leaders also pledge to assist our covenant members with care, counsel, prayer and teaching.

  • Church membership offers the safety of the sheep pen, where Christ is shepherd. It provides the nourishment of being attached to a body, like an arm to a torso, where Christ is the head. It gives the love of a family, where Christ is the firstborn of many heirs. It provides the obligations and duties of citizenship in a holy nation, where Christ is the King.

As Christians, we are members of the body of Christ. A healthy body requires that each member do its part well. A healthy church requires the same: members who are sacrificially committed and well-equipped to do the works of service that God has prepared in advance for us to do. We are also being grafted into God’s household and are called to function as a holy priesthood. God, in His sovereignty, placed us in this community, among these people, at this time for a reason.

  • The membership class is offered on a quarterly or as-needed basis and is held immediately after the worship service, with lunch provided. During this time, you will be exposed to our beliefs, mission, vision, and strategy. After the class, you will be presented with a membership form if you want to pursue membership. Once the membership form is complete, one of our elders will meet with you, hear your story, review the church covenant, and answer any other questions you might have.

Church-Member Covenant

The Church is not defined by a building but by its people, who remain the Church every day of the week. While gathering for worship is important, groups provide a vital opportunity for believers to meet in homes as the Church scatters, fostering authentic community and deepening discipleship.

At Forest Park Church, groups are a safe space to explore the Gospel, connect with others, and pursue Jesus together. Through studying Scripture, prayer, and mutual encouragement, members grow in faith and challenge one another to live out the Gospel in everyday life. These groups reflect God’s communal nature through sacrificial love, consistency, worship, and transparency, embodying the call to “do life together.” They also empower missional living, equipping people to share the Gospel and make disciples in their neighborhoods and communities.

Discipleship Training involves developing men and women into mature disciples who make disciples through various growth tracks. Each growth track will have specific training courses based on books of the bible, theology, and ministry applications. Each growth track will have specific training settings from the classroom to the cohort. We believe the future of theological education is in the church. You do not have to go outside the church to learn how to lead within the church. We believe it is the responsibility of the local church to train and equip the next generation of Christ-centered leaders. There are three growth tracks: (1) – Core Classes, (2) – Training Program, (3) – Residency Program.

Discipleship training

  • Core Classes are an introductory discipleship pathway that helps believers take the next step in their spiritual growth. There are three areas of focus: the bible, theology, and spiritual formation. The goal is that after completing these core classes, believers will be more confident about their Christian faith, internalizing it and applying it to their everyday lives.

  • The training program is the next step up from core classes, aiming to create disciples who not only know theology but also lead within the life of the local church. There are three primary areas of focus: the gospel, the church, and discipleship. The goal is that, after completing the training program, believers will have a deeper understanding of the gospel and its implications for the life of the church, be equipped to make disciples, and lead effectively within the church. • The residency program aims to develop elders who take their responsibilities seriously and joyfully shepherd the church. There are four areas of focus: pastoral ministry, preaching, theology, and leadership. The goal is that, after completing the residency program, men will be better equipped to lead the church in accomplishing its mission and working toward the church's vision.
